Air strikes and clashes around the city of Hodeidah left tens of Houthi rebels and pro-government soldiers dead amid an escalation of fighting following the collapse of UN-brokered peace talks the day before. Medical sources said that 73 Houthi rebels and 11 pro-government soldiers had died. Health officials also said that fighting wounded 17 people. A military official said that pro-government forces, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, were attempting to capture a key road between rebel-held Hodeidah and the capital, Sana’a, potentially cutting off the port city from support.
